SETTING UP A HOME OFFICE

Many of us have had to improvise an office area at home in recent months and we’ve turned to the dining room table, the kitchen island, a corner of the living room, or any other small space we can commandeer. Discover our office, chairs and storage selection for setting up a comfortable and inspiring modern work area that will help you stay productive while remaining in a good mood!

Setting up a dedicated office space

If you are fortunate enough to have a dedicated room for your office areas, read our design tips to create a productive working atmosphere:

  • Desk location: The view should suite your specific needs. If you want to improve concentration, your desk should face the wall. To spur inspiration, it should be positioned facing a window.

  • Chosing the right desk: Opt for an executive desk, such as NEGHAN, a desk with sleek lines, such as STEALTH or even a unique L-shaped design such as CARLYLE or WELLINGTON.

  • A comfortable chair: Important piece in your work area, it’s preferable to choose an ergonomic chair. If you have to move around the room a lot, wheels are a must!

  • Practical storage: Maximize the available space by lining walls with bookshelves. To keep your documents close to hand, you can also keep a standing or rolling filing cabinet under your desk.

  • The right lighting: Consider pendant lamps as well as floor lamps, which allow you to create a soft and gentle atmosphere. And don’t forget the desk lamp for casting light directly onto your work surface.

  • A space to relax: Space permitting, you can create a resting area in your office with an accent chair or ottomans.

  • Décor: Once you’ve set up and organized your office, the most enjoyable task begins: decorating! Add some inspiring accessories such as a cushion, a throw, a mirror or a wall art.

Integrating a home office

If you don't have a dedicated space for your work area, follow these easy tips to create an office corner in your living room, dining room or kitchen.

  • A small desk: For small spaces, choose a tight desk, such as WENDALE, ideal for integration in a living room, or WINTER, an ingenious desk that swivels 360° degrees.

  • A discreet chair: If your kitchen or dining table has officially become your work space, make sure to choose an ultra-comfy chair that will support you for hours on end such as EWA, JENNIFER or ELKOM.

  • A carefully chosen décor: With virtual meetings, we tend to be selective about what we put on display: a bookcase full of books, a piece of wall art, or a beautiful standing lamp in the background, or any other piece of modern furniture or accessory that reflects who we are.

  • Soft lighting: : artificial light is just as important as natural light to set up a stylish home office. You need several light sources offering different levels of intensity in order to prevent stark contrasts and create a warm yet functional ambiance.

  • Setting the mood: Finally, to create an atmosphere while you’re working, use essential oil diffusers, add plants, make a good cup of tea and play some music.
