“The Grande Dégustation de Montréal is a must-attend event for people who enjoy trying new things, for those who want to get acquainted with the world of wine, beer and spirits, and for everyone who appreciates quality products,” said the organizing committee of La Grande Dégustation de Montréal. “This year we want to create an inviting atmosphere conducive to exchanges
between members of the public and the participating producers, especially with a view to making private import products more accessible. With so many high calibre exhibitors, visitors will have a chance to discover an unprecedented variety of products and destinations.”

More than 220 producers from 18 countries will be on hand to share their passion for the art of drinking and dining with 13,000 expected visitors. Also, visitors will be able to taste more than 1300 products, 800 of which are private imports and 500 are available in the SAQ stores.

About Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio: is there a difference?
Often associated with France, Pinot Gris is quite the world traveller. The grape variety can be found today in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Canada, Chile and even Italy. Robust and round with a long finish, it has the distinction of being one of the few varieties entitled to use the Alsace Grand Cru appellation. It is also used for late harvest and noble grape selection wines. It should not be confused with Pinot Grigio, a type of white wine made from the same grape variety, often associated with Italy but produced in a number of other countries, and that is even available as a sparkling wine and a rosé! Drier and more acidic, this very popular wine is synonymous with the pleasures of la dolce vita. So, do you prefer Gris or Grigio?
Gins: revolution to evolution
Here as in other parts of the world, gin is making a splash with a wave of innovations. It is the flagship of a small revolution in the realm of locally-produced spirits which are ringing up major sales especially among millennials. Several iconic brands will be participating in this year’s event, so it’s a chance to (re)discover them!
